Description: Speech Language Pathologists in the home health setting frequently encounter families from various cultural backgrounds and language differences. This course will help optimize and streamline the bilingual assessment process through discussion of assessments, tools, and strategies while still maintaining accuracy and thoroughness.
Objectives – Following this training, participants will be able to:
1. Name at least 3 assessments that are appropriate for a child exposed to more than one language
2.Describe at least 2 tools to utilize in a dynamic assessment
3.Describe 2 ways a clinician can determine language dominance
4.Describe how to obtain a language sample for a child exposed to more than one language
