Feeding and Swallowing Program

“Feeding requires the interaction and coordination of the central and peripheral nervous systems, the oropharyngeal mechanism, the cardiopulmonary system, and the GI tract with the support of the craniofacial and musculoskeletal systems.” (Goday et al., 2018)

While it seems as though feeding and swallowing should develop easily, if something goes wrong with one or more of the body’s systems listed above, it often times does not. When feeding and nourishing our children becomes difficult, it can leave us, as caregivers, feeling helpless.
